What is Roofer Cover personal accident and sickness insurance?

It’s a specialist insurance policy for self-employed roofers that provides weekly compensation if you can’t work due to injury or illness. It also includes lump sum benefits for permanent disablement or death.

What makes Roofer Cover different from standard policies?

– 10% discount when you buy online
– Additional 5% discount if you hold a valid CSCS card
– Faster claims handling (aim: settled within 1 week)
– 2-week deferral period (vs. 4+ weeks with many other policies)
– Comprehensive cover for both on-site and off-the-job risks

What is the CSCS card discount and why does it matter?

You’ll receive an additional 5% discount if you hold a valid CSCS card. This proves you meet industry-recognised health and safety standards—and from an insurance perspective, it lowers risk, which we reward with a lower premium.

How long does it take for a claim to be paid?

We aim to settle all valid claims within one week. All claims are handled by a UK-based team who understand roofing risks and trade work.

What is the deferral period and how does Roofer Cover compare?

Roofer Cover policies have a 2-week deferral (waiting) period. This is shorter than the typical 4–8 weeks on many similar policies, meaning you get paid sooner.

What weekly compensation does it provide?

If you can’t work due to an injury, you can receive weekly payments for up to 2 years. For sickness-related absences, the benefit is paid for up to 1 year.

Does it cover falls, fire, and roofing hazards?

Yes. Roofer Cover is built for roofers, so it includes high-risk work like falls from height, hot works (fire), tool-related accidents, and lifting injuries.

Does the policy cover incidents outside of work?

Yes. You’re covered for sports injuries, gym accidents, DIY mishaps, and other accidents outside your roofing work—subject to policy terms.

Are pre-existing conditions covered?

Yes, but only after two years from your medical discharge date. This ensures fairness while keeping premiums manageable.

What about serious outcomes like permanent disability or death?

The policy pays out a lump sum if you suffer permanent disablement or die as a result of an accident. This can help support your family or cover critical expenses.

Who provides the insurance and why does that matter?

The cover is provided by Pulse Insurance and backed by Lloyd’s of London. Lloyd’s is one of the world’s most established insurance markets, known for insuring complex and high-risk industries like roofing.

Is the policy financially secure?

Yes. It’s underwritten by an A-rated insurer, meaning it meets high standards for financial stability—so you can trust that claims will be paid.

Can I tailor the policy to my needs?

Yes. Different levels of cover are available based on your income and the level of cover you require.  You can build a policy that suits your circumstances to cover your full circumstances or to cover financial commitments e.g mortgages and loans.

If I don’t make a claim on my Group Personal Accident and Sickness policy, have I wasted my money?
Not at all. Insurance isn’t about hoping to use it—it’s about knowing you’re covered if the worst happens. A Personal Accident and Sickness policy gives you peace of mind that if you’re injured or fall seriously ill, you won’t be left without income. Just like PPE or a safety harness, it’s there to protect you even if you never need it. And importantly, the policy also includes a lump sum payout in the event of permanent disablement or death—providing critical financial support to you or your family when it’s needed most. If you never have to claim, that’s a good thing—it means you stayed healthy and working.

Note;

Injuries and illness resulting from risky activities or illegal acts are excluded as are self-inflicted injuries and those resulting from drug or alcohol abuse

Please see the policy for full terms, conditions, excesses etc. A copy policy is available on request.
